" I am very pleased and proud to share with you the news that Prof. GUO Huadong, Secretary General of ISDE, was elected as TWAS Fellow of 2012 (http://twas.ictp.it/mbrs/
TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, is an autonomous international organization, founded in 1983 in Trieste, Italy, by a distinguished group of scientists from the South under the leadership of the late Nobel laureate Abdus Salam of Pakistan. It was officially launched by the secretary-general of the United Nations in 1985. TWAS represents the best of science in developing countries. Its main mission is to promote scientific excellence and capacity in the South for science-based sustainable development.
At yesterday's ceremony for newly elected TWAS fellows, 49 fellows were announced this year, at the conference held in Taijing, China. Prof. GUO was one of them in the list. Thereby, on behalf of the International Society for Digital Earth, I would like to congratulate him for his success and recongition in Science & Technology internationally. I am sure, this will represent your voice as well."
